Although there are way more women seeking breast enlargements, or breast implants, breast reduction is almost done just as much. The usual reasoning behind a woman having her breast size reduced is to give her body a more proportionate appearance. A very thin, petite woman can be very uncomfortable with extremely large breasts. This can also lead to poor posture and severe back problems from carrying around to much weight. Another reason a woman may want to have this surgery is to remove extra skin that can cause the breasts to fall from their original positions. Breast reduction surgery is done by a plastic surgeon. This surgeon will consult with the patient and find out exactly how much smaller they want to be, or what they would like to achieve . They will then decide what part of the breast they will remove the excess tissue from. Once both the doctor and patient have a clear plan of what they are going for, a surgical procedure can be scheduled.
During the surgery the doctor will remove the extra skin or tissue and then will use sutures to close up the incisions that he made. It is a bit more invasive than breast implants because of he fact that they will actually be making you a new breast. They will create it out of what you already have, instead of inserting an implant into your breast.
Recovery times from breast reduction can take a bit longer than with implants. Nevertheless, it can provide very pleasing results for women who suffer from overly large or droopy breasts.
